The Mexican passport is a passport issued to Mexican citizens through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and is the only document issued by the federation that is applicable to the entire population, both children, youth and adults.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) currently issues the electronic passport, whose security measures have been endorsed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and, therefore, offers Mexican citizens the confidence of having a document of trip that meets international safety standards.

Based on the above, there are criteria and a specific procedure to process the issuance or renewal of passports at the Embassies and Consulates of Mexico.
The production of this passport is carried out centrally at the facilities of the Foreign Passport Issuance Center (CEPE), in Mexico City.
